Piano Redo

I know you’ve been anxiously awaiting the piano transformation *wink*

I was soo excited to do this piano! It was in pretty bad shape when it arrived at my house…

Don’t you love my child model?

After 2 days of repair and prep work, I gave it a couple coats of paint, some distressing and hardware and here’s the result!!

I am so happy with the way it turned out. It has so much character and I know it will be loved and played in it’s new home!
Back to work today!

  1. Thanks, ladies! We decided to go with a matte look because it was in SUCH bad shape…we didn't want it to look like a wanna-be-new piano. Michele,I used wood putty…over and over. This was probably not the most productive solution, but we live and learn, right?

  2. Ohh, I just posted but then came up with an idea to pass on. I think you should get some contrasting (white or silver) vinyl letters and where usually the piano company name goes, front and center, put your family name!

  4. Wow! It turned out great! I have been wanting to get a piano, but don't want to spend the money on a “new/fairly new” one…but you've given me inspiration to try a makeover! Now I'm off to look for one on craigslist.

  5. I love this and have been contemplating doing the same to my piano. It is not in the best shape and could use a spruce up.Did you have to sand everything down before you painted? and did you just use regular house paint? Can a piano take that much abuse? C: I suppose so since the kids paly it all the time… C: Thanks for posting this!

  6. Hi! Your piano looks awesome. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing briefly with me if you spray painted this piano? Did you prime it? And how did you do the distressing? I want to do the EXACT same thing to my piano and it would be super helpful to know. Please I am DESPERATE! Thanks, john

  7. Hi John, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to respond to your questions! We have transitioned as a family and I've been offline for a while. I would love to know if you ended up doing your piano?? As far as your questions…yes, I did prime the piano with Kilz. I sprayed it with my power sprayer. It is a difficult project but so worth it!
